Trevor Scott was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and he grew up near there doing all of the normal things associated with that frozen tundra. He was a trapper, fisherman, hunter, and alpine ski racer. Along the way he became an Eagle Scout. He escaped at age 17 to see the world on the Navy's dime, working on the dangerous flight deck of aircraft carriers as an aviation ordnanceman on cruises to the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. Spending countless months at sea gave him plenty of time to think about his future. Letting an 18-year-old loose on the streets of the world was an excellent training ground for his future career as an international thriller writer. Done with the Navy after four years, Scott returned to Duluth to attend the University of Minnesota. He earned a degree in English and journalism in less than four years and was the news editor on his award-winning college newspaper. After working for a while at a private college in Wisconsin writing press releases, and then on a daily newspaper in Idaho writing and editing stories and designing pages, he decided to return to the military as an Air Force officer. Commissioned as an Air Force officer, he was stationed first in Missouri in a communications squadron supporting Minuteman II ICBMs. Then he moved on to a Ground-Launched Cruise Missile unit in Germany for three years during the crumbling of the Berlin Wall and the fall of communism, where he participated in joint exercises with the German Army and Air Force, and escorted Soviet inspection teams in compliance with the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty. Back in the States during the Gulf War, he was a commander of 500 personnel in a B-52 squadron. At this time, Scott earned his master's in writing from Northern Michigan University. Scott still holds the rank of captain in the reserves. His military honors include the Air Force Commendation Medal (with oak leaf cluster), the Air Force Achievement Medal, Expert Marksmanship, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the German Schutzenschnur (silver). To keep his writing authentic, he has traveled to more than 45 countries, where he takes notes, shoots photos, and moves about the cities much like his characters might in the espionage game. He has also studied the martial arts for years, and continues to shoot his guns. (See partial list of countries and cities visited below!) Scott writes in Oregon. He's been married for
more than 26 years, and has two grown
sons. Publications
